Requirements
Qualification requirements
All qualifications must include supervised and assessed clinical practice of at least 120 hours
Eligible qualifications:
- An applied bachelor degree in addictions (or higher) from the list of recognised applied addiction qualifications (meets qualification requirements for both provisional and full registration)
- An applied bachelor degree in Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Medicine or Counselling
- Te Taketake Diploma in Applied Addictions Counselling (level 7)
Important notes:
If your qualifications are not addiction-specific you will need:
- An applied bachelor degree in Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Medicine or Counselling, or
- Te Taketake Diploma in Applied Addictions Counselling (level 7)
Addiction practice requirements
- Your manager and dapaanz accredited clinical supervisor will be required to endorse that you have completed 6 months of competent, ethical, supervised addiction clinical practice over and above your course practicum. This will equal a minimum of 100 hours of work with clients – 75 of these hours must be direct client work. If your clinical practice is only via your practicum you will need to wait until you have acquired the practice hours 6 months post-qualification.
- NOTE experience during your placement cannot be considered for this purpose nor support worker practice.
